In the world of Enterprise Mobility, acronyms abound. Two of the most common are MDM (Mobile Device Management) and MAM (Mobile Application Management). But what do they actually mean, and which one do you need?

MDM: Managing the Device

MDM focuses on the device itself. It allows IT to configure settings, wipe data, and enforce policies at the OS level.

MAM: Managing the Apps

MAM focuses on the applications. It controls data within specific corporate apps (like Outlook or Teams) without touching the rest of the device.

Which one to choose?

For company-owned devices, MDM is usually the way to go. For BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) scenarios, MAM offers a great balance of security and privacy.
